Buckner, KY - The Oldham County Colonels (1-0) host their rivals from North Oldham High School this Friday at Bell Field in Buckner, KY.   The North Oldham Mustangs are 0-1 after losing 66-50 in a wild affair last week against the (Evansville, IN) Central Bears; Oldham is 1-0 after trouncing the Iroquois Raider-Wolves last Friday.

The Mustangs rushed for nearly 500 yards last week, had three runners eclipse 100 yards rushing - Arien Beasley (193 yards), Quinton Shaw (135 yards), and Chris Webb (128 yards), and scored touchdowns on 7 of 11 possessions.   They punted just once and had no turnovers as their offense ran roughshod over the Bears.   Unfortunately for North, Central bounced back from a 27-22 halftime deficit with a strong running attack of their own, and scored 9 touchdowns on their 10 possessions.    Quarterback Austin Fuchs rushed for over 200 yards to lead the Bears.

North averaged 8.7 yards per carry, with Webb (16 yards per carry) and Beasley (12.25 yards/carry) leading the way.

Oldham County comes in trying to stop a two game losing streak at the hands of the Mustangs.   North has won both of the previous contests between the two teams, rallying from a fourth quarter deficit to win in Buckner in 2011 and hanging on for a 16-10 victory last year in Goshen.    The Colonels had little trouble dispatching the Raider-Wolves of Iroquois last week, 33-0.  Quarterback Ryan Grattan tossed two touchdown passes and Cody Schindler recovered a fumble on defense to lead the way.   The Colonels have now won 3 of 4 dating back to the final three weeks of last season...

Oldham County features senior kicker Sean Nuernberger, who has signed with Ohio State University.  Nuernberger kicked a 46 yard field goal against Iroquois.

Pegasus Sports will go on-air with the Baptist Health Pregame Show at 7 pm ET on Friday, 8/30/13.
